Best bennies in Victoria!!

excellent food and service

Havent been to shine for a while, don't like the wait.
We went there last week with my wife's parents,and got a few surprises.
It was Saturday and we were expecting a long wait for the 4 of us, that was the 1st surprise, we were seated in 10 minutes,even with the usual people hanging outside.
It looks like the have updated the decor with new tables/chairs and a fresh coat of paint. They seem to have more seating?
Our server was fantastic, kept our coffee full the whole time.
The food came out reasonably fast, one of the plates didn't have our fruit, but that came out right after.
I love their pancakes, so fluffy and fresh. Everyone else enjoyed there meals.
Im glad i went back to the shine,everything was what we expected

Read about this funky cafe in the Eat magazine a few months ago.
Fantastic service, great decor and yummy food.
They said that they expanded there seating,so wait was short.

Good selection of eggs bennidicts and omelettes.

Well, the service was great and the restaurant was clean, and my dining partner enjoyed her food very much, but I had a rather nauseating experience with the cinnamon apples offered as a topping(They tasted of ONIONS and GARLIC, not pleasant on a sweet beakfast entree!) The waitress apologized and removed it from the bill, but if I hadn't heard and read so many great things about this place I would never consider returning.

I had the pleasure of visiting Victoria recently..coming from Belfast Ireland I had no idea that I would be able to taste a little bit of home..I found it there..in the wonderful shine cafe!!!helpful and cheery staff..(my fiancee and i were told where we could get black pudding on the island)..and tattie bread???in Canada??WOW!!!!...thank you to all at Shine cafe!!!...you ALL made my stay a wee bit more like home....I WILL BE BACK!!!...A LOT!!!!
I travelled 45000 miles...and was fed like a king!! of all the places I ate on the island? (and there were many)..Shine cafe has to be one of the BEST!!

Absolutely outstanding on a consistent basis. Staff are incredible, service is quick, and food is amazing. I've never ordered anything but a Benny and potato scone (pancake) and have never, ever been remotely disappointed.

Most fantabulous eggs benny ever and delicious potato scones (grately appreciated as it is hard to find these anywhere else but home). Staff is always friendly and the service is great. )

The most amazing eggs benny you have ever tasted! My husband and I make special trips to Victoria, from the Cowichan Valley, just to have breakfast there...no other restaurant will do. We even celebrated our most recent anniversery over a couple of Day in the Life benny's and some organic coffee. I would highly recommened the Shine Cafe!

Victoria's best kept little secret,went a few times now and thought id do a search on the web of them and came across this review.
Service is great,foods wonderful coffee is to die for. Both the owners are working hands on which shows in the quality of the cafe.Just one thing, the wait to get in,they will keep you happy with coffee and chat so its not to bad compared to other breakie places.

Fantastic ambiance,Great service,pleasent decor and amazing food.ive been going there for almost every weekend for a year now, and i would go anywhere else.A great addition to victoria.

honestly, wasn't that great. I don't know what all the fuss is about. the service was mediocre, my eggs were hard when I asked for soft and the coffee was pretty bitter. nice decore though.
