Lovely! You can tell that they put much love into the food - all of the ingredients stood out. They had me at the bread and olive oil to start. I've been in twice now and can't wait to go back. I like the fact that it's casual enough not to feel stuffy, it's all about the food.

To the person who wrote the only negative review you arrived at 820 to a restaurant that closes at 900? Seriously?
You thought you could be seated, then select, order, have prepared, and eat a meal in forty minutes? You must be looking for a fast food outlet.

La Piola is hosting a pranzo for the victoria taste festival - the fabulous italian looooong lunch. Slow food is where it is at.

Love the food, made from scratch. Excellent service. Great wine knowledge to recommend with food choice.

It was a last minute thing for my wife and I because we were returning home from downtown Victoria and, while it was 730 pm, we had not yet eaten and just happened to pass La Piola and thought we'd stop -- absolutely the best restaurant decision we'd made in many months. The menu was small but varied and, it must be said, delicious to read.

The pork chop with balsamic reduction on polenta, and the pasta fungi were fabulous the service comfortable and non-intrusive and the bill happily paid.

We have heard so much about La Piola from many friends of ours, so it was time for us to make a visit. The entire evening was outstanding. From the moment we arrived until we said our goodnights, announcing it was the best Italian Restaurant we had ever been to. The Chef, Cory Pelan, and his staff must be commended on what they have created. We are going back and taking friends tomorrow night.

Superb food, glorious flavours andalmost as importantlymasterful service (welcoming, friendly, efficient, attentive but not hovering). A real treat.
The only downside (a very small one) is too little decor that absorbs sound, so the interactions of others enjoying their meals can distract from your own conversation.

Amazing pasta! Apparently, they make it by hand, fresh everyday. The server was excellet! He knew the menu inside out and the history of every dish. We are so impressed!

Having dined in Victoria for many years, I was blown away by the genuine and professional service. Our waiter was engaging, knowledgeable and made great reccomendations for both food and wine. The food was just as great! All local products done in a very authentic Italian style! I can't wait to go back...

Very disapointing. Having had La Piola on my list of restaurants to try for quite some time I eagerly hurried there the moment I was free. It's Tuesday, and the rare Tuesdays that I can make it out early are the only days my schedule would permit me to dine there. Having tried on a Monday (my only day off--they're closed) I had taken note that they were open till 9pm. I checked the hours online and hastily made my way from downtown only to be turned away hungry. The time was 820-825. The hours posted online, and on the door are still 9pm. Supposedly, reservations are not required, and, while I did have Internet access, I did not have easy access to a phone to call and verify the info. This whole experience was frustrating, but it left me kmowing one thing for sure and wondering about another. First the sure thing I will never have the opportunity to dine at La Piola, but I wonder, why post hours of operation if you're not going to stick to them?

Really great food, beautifully presented, and in a simple but pleasant surrounding. the music was a bit loud, but other than that (and a few pesky fruit flies) we had no complaints, and all left feeling it was money well spent. We will go back!!

Beautiful local ingredients keep their integrity and showcase the honest Italian cuisine. The service was warm and friendly, unpretentious. I will be back many, many more times!
